Venerable Seang Heng (常恒) was born in Gaoyou, Jiangsu. At the age of 11, Venerable Xuhua from the Jinshan Temple became a monk, and he was ordained when he grew up in Nanjing Gulin Temple. After coming to the south, he initially stationed in Port Klang, Malaysia, and was introduced by Venerable Xingren to settle down and take over Ling San Temple. Later, he purchased the Chong Hwa Temple on the same street, and held the Great Compassion Dharma Meeting (now renamed the Diamond Sutra group seminar) and free vegetarian banquets on the eighth day of every month to save the crowd. In those days, Venerable Seang Heng (常恒) and Venerable Yanpei, Venerable Hong Choon (弘船), Venerable Longgen, Venerable Songnian, Venerable Guangyu all forged a very deep friendship.
Rebuilding is Immenient
Venerable Seang Heng (常恒), 87 years old. Now, he is in bed, and his only wish is to see Ling San Temple built.
“Ling San Temple was demolished in the hands of Venerable Seang Heng (常恒), so he especially hopes to see the ‘Ling San Rebuilt’! Venerable is a very compassionate, very low-key person, but now he is very sick, we sincerely hope I can get the help and support of the great virtues and benefactors to realize the wish of the old monk together…” Said by Volunteer Chen of Ling San Temple.
History of Lin San Temple 灵山寺的历史
Under the leadership of Venerable Seang Heng, many followers came here to worship Buddha and practice together. In addition, the monastery often invited Venerable Yan Pei to give lectures, while Venerable Seang Heng was invited by Venerable Hong Choon (弘船) to participate in almost all the pujas in Kong Meng San Phor Kark See(光明山). Rebuilding With the construction of surrounding buildings, the foundation of Ling San Temple has been severely damaged and has become a “dangerous building”. For safety reasons, it had to be demolished and rebuilt in 2003. However, due to insufficient funding and others, the reconstruction project was put on hold. Raising $3.5million Funds At present, Ling San Temple rebuilding project has begun. It is planned to be completed within a year, but $3.5 million will need to be raised to complete the entire project. It will not only retain and continue the previous pujas and lectures, but also plan to open free Buddhist courses and activities.
